Planning for your wedding can be stressful. There are so many things to consider and when the big day finally comes, you want to make sure you enjoy it! We wanted to share our top ten tips for having the most stress-free wedding day possible.

1. Hire a Day-of Coordinator

The easiest way to mitigate stress on your wedding day is to not worry about executing the details. Let someone handle that for you so that you can enjoy your day. A day-of coordinator is in charge of making sure your vision comes to life and that everything goes according to plan (as much as possible). Find a coordinator who understands your vision and can help you execute it so you can focus on enjoying your day.

2. Put someone in charge of family photos

Separate from the day-of coordinator, we recommend finding a family member or close family friend to help coordinate your family photos. Imagine saying “I do” and moments later being immediately swarmed by family members who need to gather for group photos and not having anyone to help organize. Provide your photo coordinator with a list of all the family groups you need to make sure to get photos of and put them in charge of preparing and managing these groups. The more efficiently you can capture all of these images, the more time you’ll have for mingling with guests, taking bridal photos, and enjoying your day.

3. Break in your shoes

I know, I know, it’s tempting to save your shoes for the biggest day of your life, but we recommend you break in your shoes a bit before the big day. Imagine how comfortable you’d be on your feet all day with blisters on your feet! Give yourself time to adjust to your new kicks so they aren’t stiff and painful when it counts!

4. Take time before the wedding

Your wedding day is going to be a lot of things; emotional, fun, exciting, and memorable. It will be a very tiring day. Plan to have some time prior to the wedding where you can just relax. Take a day or two off work in advance so that you can get all your last-minute prep done and get a good night’s sleep beforehand.

5.  Pack a wedding day survival kit

There are so many little items that go forgotten that may come in handy on your wedding day. This could include mints, extra hair pins, make up and make up remover, tissues, floss, mini sewing kit, hairspray, and so much more. The items you pack in this kit should be readily available and could contribute to a much lower stress day!

6. Keep it simple

It may be tempting to cram as many events as possible on your wedding day and try to schedule it down to the minute. From experience, we can tell you that oftentimes things do not go according to schedule. Things may fall behind or take longer than expected.

Avoid planning that big brunch or line up of manicures, pedicures, or other extra events on the day of. Instead, opt to take some time before the wedding day to prepare and give yourself a more relaxed and forgiving schedule, just in case things run behind. Keep it simple and leave some buffer time in between the big events, you’ll thank yourself later!

7. Don’t forget to eat

Your day begins when you wake up and usually doesn’t end until late into the night. Make sure you prepare meals throughout the day (that includes breakfast!) so that you have the energy to celebrate as long as you want. At the very least, plan to have breakfast delivered that morning or prepared the night before so you don’t have to worry about hunger.

8. Have some alone time with your new spouse.

This one is really important. This is the biggest day of your lives and although you’re surrounded by loving friends and family on this day, make sure to step out for some alone time. Even if it’s just 5 minutes to just get away from the excitement and soak it all in together, you’ll really enjoy the chance to just be with each other and no one else. I mean, that’s why you’re getting married, right?

9. Give yourself some time before you leave for your honeymoon.

A lot of couples will want to take off the day after their wedding and get away somewhere nice and relaxing. We totally get it! If you don’t give yourself a bit of downtime after your wedding, you might find yourself stressing about it before your wedding day is even over. You worked hard for your wedding day and honeymoon, and you should be allow yourself enough time to make sure you can enjoy both. After you regain your energy from your successful and stress-free wedding, you’ll be able to have a much more enjoyable time!

10. Don’t overthink it.

As much as you plan, you can’t control what happens. Things may not go exactly according to plan, and that’s okay. Focus on what really matters; the company, the celebration, and the little moments throughout the day that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
